Despite the long journey, the intercity bus service between Istanbul and Denizli (the entrance to Pamukkale) is very popular, and there are many bus options. There are buses departing every hour from 6:30am to 9:00pm. The ideal option is to take the early-morning service, which is spectacular for viewing the scenery go by; or a trip between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., which offers a quicker journey time and an early morning arrival.
The average trip by coach is 10 to 12 hours. Due in part to less traffic and fewer halts along the route, night buses can complete the same journey in between 9 and 10 hours. All coaches have airline-style seats with personal entertainment systems and charging ports for cell phones. All buses also have a conductor service, which supplies complimentary hot and cold beverages as well as little snacks at regular intervals along the route.
Travel from Istanbul to Pamukkale by Plane
Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines provide flights between Istanbul Airport and Denizli Çardak Airport (airport code DNZ). During the summer months, there are about six flights a day. Once the peak vacation season is over, services drop to three per day. Denizli Airport is located approximately 72 kilometers southeast of Pamukkale.
