Pamukkale is unique in that it surpasses natural elements such as warm, mineralized water from springs and pools that flow from it. This was where Hierapolis was founded, a notable example of a Graeco-Roman thermal complex. The Christian monuments are excellent examples of early-Christian architecture complexes.
Pamukkale, which means"cotton castle" in Turkish, is a breathtaking site that got its name from mineral deposits produced by hot springs. Mineral forests, petrified cascades, and terraced pools of a natural nymphaeum are strange formations caused by the rich minerals in this ancient location; it's no wonder that Pamukkale is one of Turkey's most popular tourist attractions.
The hot springs' power in reshaping the landscape was attributed by the ancient Greeks to its ability to heal, and a thermal station was erected on the site during Roman times. This ancient city is called as Hierapolis Ancient City and it is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Turkey.
After breakfast at your hotel in the morning, we will meet you at your hotel in Selcuk or Kusadasi around 08:00am and drive you to Hierapolis Ancient City for around 2.5 hours. We will then visit the largest Necropolis (cemetery) in Turkey, The Domitian and Byzantium Gates, Main Street, and the theatre with a capacity of 20.000 seats. After seeing the theater, you'll have some free time to swim in Cleopatra Pool if you would like. An extra 10 Euro entrance fee is required for this pool. With the conclusion of the walk through the ruins of Hierapolis Ancient City, we arrive at the Travertine terraces.
The travertine pools are very strange formations caused by thermal springs which contains huge amount of calcium bicarbonate , chalk and limestone. The travertines cascade down the hills naturally and very much resemble a frozen waterfall. The tour will end around 4:00pm and we will drive you back to your hotel in Selcuk or Kusadasi. You will have option to stay in Pamukkale if you are planning an overnight there.
