Istanbul has two airports that you can fly to / from: Istanbul Airport (airport code IST) and Sabiha Gokcen Airport (airport code SAW). Istanbul Airport is located on the European side of Istanbul and it is closer to Sultanahmet, Taksim and other important sights in Istanbul. Sabiha Gokcen Airport is located on Asian side of Istanbul and it takes about 1,5 hour to get to the airport from Sultanahmet area.
